KIDS Operating Rooms – providing operating theatres to treat children across the world

A typical KIDS OR children’s operating theatre

In 2024, our charity Golf event allowed us to present KIDS OR with a cheque for £3,000 to support their work installing operating theatres for children in hospitals in some of the world’s most blighted countries.

Guide Dogs Scotland

Our 2025 golf event was focused on providing support for Guide Dogs Scotland. This built on the efforts of 2024 where we fundraised in association with Circus Extreme who visited Dundee that year and kindly allowed us, and other local Rotary Clubs, to collect at their events.

Kids Out

The club regularly supports the Kids Out charity in providing fun days out for children during June. This includes events at the Kingsway Bowling Alley, a Roundabout, “Beat the Goalie” etc. Different events are organised according to the capabilities of the children.

Santa Sleigh

Monifieth Rotarians delighted hundreds of children over four nights touring Santa’s sleigh around the Monifieth area in the run up to Christmas. Every child had the opportunity to let Santa know their Christmas requests but Santa had to be careful to not over promise!

Monifieth Community Fridge

The Fridge is a joint community venture with a number of organisations across Monifieth district which, with support of local supermarkets, aims to cut down on food waste. It’s not a “food bank” but a “stop food waste” project.  More information can be found on their Facebook page HERE.

Wash Project

Rotary Club of Monifieth and District supported 3 Wash projects in northeast India in partnership with the Rotary Club of Calcutta. WASH 1 helping villagers in West Bengal showed us that dirty pond water is typically the only water supply for most villages. Together since then we have helped fund more than 40 bore wells and 400 toilets in 15 villages. Members Nick Day and Hugh Begg travelled to India to visit and see the work being done for themselves.

Monifieth Railway Station

Rotary Club of Monifieth and District work into partnership with Scotrail to supply and maintain planters on both the platforms. Monifieth Rotarians literally get their hands dirty on a regular basis – planting, watering, and nurturing the displays.

Trishaws

The club donated £500 to support Monifieth Trishaws. This will go a long way to helping with their next purchase – a Trishaw which can support a wheelchair and user! The Trishaws provide a wonderful service to older people in Monifieth who are unable to het out as much as they once did by taking them on cycle rides around the town and along the beachfront.
